Application Deadline Approaches for the Edward Davis Education Foundation Scholarship

Since its inception in 1998, the Edward Davis Education Foundation (EDEF) has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to ethnic minority students who are pursuing a career in an automotive-related profession.

DETROIT – October 17, 2008 –The Edward Davis Education Foundation, a non-profit arm of On Wheels, Incorporated, is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2008-2009 academic year.

The deadline to submit is November 15, 2008.  

Since its inception in 1998, the Edward Davis Education Foundation (EDEF) has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to ethnic minority students who are pursuing a career in an automotive-related profession.  EDEF was established in honor of the only African American and the only auto dealer inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame.

Edward Davis was a pioneer among franchised automobile dealers, and was among the first African Americans to own and operate a dealership.  His legacy of vision, persistence and excellence is embraced in EDEF's objectives.  EDEF's mission is to increase diversity within the automotive industry, increase seatbelt safety awareness among African Americans, Asians and Latinos and promote career opportunities for ethnic minorities.   
The scholarships will be presented on stage during the 13th Annual Urban Wheel Awards on January 13, 2009 at the Detroit Opera House.  Held in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show, the Urban Wheel Awards is the automotive industry’s premier diversity awards ceremony that is help to honor diversity in the automotive industry.
