If it's true that the car you drive (or owned) says a lot about you, I may be in some trouble.

I've owned some doozies. But, for many of you, using this new site may be a chance to reconnect with some of your "old loves" — cars that you owned in the past, that is.

And, some of you car enthusiasts may have even given that car or truck a name.

Of course, you can get into some trouble if you're significant other finds you spending too much time on a Social Media site looking back on fond memories of past relationships.

So just make sure they realize that these "lost loves" like Sally or Betsy or what ever you called your car back then is just that — an innocent attachment between you and a car from yesteryear.

Then again, you may be like me and recall a love/hate relationship that you had with a past ride. Mine was a 1980 AMC Spirit that caught on fire my senior year of college. I even have a vidoe of the car going up in flames - but that's a story for another day.

In the meantime, check out Experian Automotive's  new  CheckMyRide.com, a free social media Website for car enthusiasts.

Members of the site can build their own personal vehicle history timeline, track the whereabouts of vehicles they have owned in the past, and easily share their favorite memories about the cars and trucks they love on Facebook and Twitter.

The new site also allows members to receive a free AutoCheck report so they can fully understand and share their current vehicle's history.

"Everyone has a car story to share. Maybe it's about the first car you ever bought, the car you drove in college or the new convertible in your garage," said Scott Waldron, president of Experian Automotive. "Now with CheckMyRide.com, people have a community where they can share stories about the cars they have loved with other car enthusiasts."

CheckMyRide.com is free to join and easy to get started. The Website allows members to create a profile for each vehicle they've owned as well as add pictures and comments to build their timeline.

Using the power of AutoCheck, members also can enter their vehicle identification number into the Where In The World Is My Old Car? tool to map where their old car ended up or where their current car has been.

"Car shoppers use our AutoCheck vehicle history reports to help them confidently understand, compare and select the right vehicle," Waldron added. "By leveraging the information within AutoCheck, we are uniquely positioned to offer a fun and engaging way for people to interact and share stories about their own personal vehicle history."

AutoCheck vehicle history reports are used today by millions of consumers and by more than 12,000 automotive retailers nationwide as an important part of the used vehicle shopping process.

AutoCheck vehicle history reports help automotive retailers and consumers quickly and easily understand a vehicle's past, including reported accidents, odometer issues, title brands, frame-damage announcements and other important information that buyers need to make a confident used vehicle purchase.

At CheckMyRide.com members can:

• Build a vehicle history timeline
• Use the Where In The World Is My Old Car? tool
• Learn about their current car's story with a free AutoCheck vehicle history report
• Search and comment on other members' vehicles
• Share and promote their favorite cars with Facebook and Twitter

I'm sure many of my former vehciles from high school and my college years — a 1972 Delta 88, a 1976 Mustang, a 1980 AMC Spirit  and a 1976 Ford Granada — are all resting peacefully together in some salvage yard in the Akron/Barberton area.
