Eight racers took to the track at US 131 Motorsports Park and fiercely competed to win a new racing engine during the Engine Pro Engine Giveaway at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI. Andy Wrobleski of South Bend, Ind. bested the other racers who were chosen from a field of 20 Top Ten points finishers in the Top ET and Modified divisions at the popular Michigan track.
Wrobleski won the engine, which was provided by Pro-filer Performance Products of New Carlisle, Ohio and professionally assembled by Performance Engineering of Jenison, Mich. The power plant is valued at $17,000. The event was held during the recent 11th Annual Funny Car Nationals presented by Discount Tire.
Other competitors were Bill Swain of Ionia, Mich., Jason Jenson of Vicksburg, Mich., Andy Wrobleski of South Bend, Ind., Kelly Smith of White Cloud, Mich., Tony Whitehead Sr. of Middleville, Mich., Matt Napp of Kalamazoo, Mich., Steve Mesik of Plainwell, Mich. and Jason Kiefer of Plymouth, Ind.
Wrobleski had a perfect reaction time of .000 in the first round running 8.07 et, 8.11 dial in,166.42 mph to defeat Smith -.008, 8.74 et, 8.76 dial in, 152.39 mph. Wrobleski then defeated Jenson by running .012, 8.13 et, 8.08 dial in,160.66 mph while Jenson ran .043, 9.61 et, 9.58 dial in, 133.49 mph.
Several top manufacturers supplied parts for the engine. Clevite supplied the bearings, Fel Pro, the gaskets and Comp Cams provided the valve train components. Melling supplied the oil pump and the pistons were from JE-pistons. Other suppliers include Ferrea, valves; Hastings, piston rings; Milodon,oil pan; Oliver, connecting rods; Driven Racing Oil, racing oil; and Scat, crankshaft.
