Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion, is best known for turning heads at the track, but has put a new spin on performance by completing 13 donuts in 60 seconds at The Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville, NC. Logano accepted a challenge from Pennzoil and AutoZone to create canvas art with his Sprint Cup Ford Fusion by completing as many donuts as he could in a minute. All of the action was packaged into a high-octane video that can be viewed on the Pennzoil YouTube page complete with a compelling promotion.
“Joey has treated fans on the track time and time again with his top-level performances,” said Doug Kooyman, Pennzoil global brand manager. “Although there was no checkered flag up for grabs this time, there was plenty of engine revving and rubber burning fun that any automotive fan will appreciate.”
As part of the attempt, Logano proved to be an artist not only on the track, but off the track as well. As the No. 22 whipped its powerful frame around, Logano was simultaneously creating a custom piece of artwork comprised of burned rubber and tire tracks. The massive, one-of-a-kind canvas spanned 32’ x 32’ and will be cut into individual pieces to be used as prizes for motorsports fans via Pennzoil, AutoZone, Team Penske, and the Joey Logano Foundation social media giveaways.
“I’m used to the giant loops of the racetrack, but the rotations for these donuts were tight! It was a test for me and the No. 22,” said Logano. “It’s so cool that this was captured on tape to relive with the fans!”
Fans that watch the video will be able to download a $10 instant coupon for Pennzoil Synthetic motor oils. The coupon will be available through www.pennzoil.com/AutoZone and can be used at AutoZone retailers nationwide for Pennzoil Platinum and Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage Full Synthetic motor oils from July 28, 2015 – August 24, 2015.
