Washburn Institute of Technology students and instructors give back to the Topeka community with “Recycled Rides” community service project.

Helping a person or family get a vehicle they might never be able to afford on their own gives Cameron Smith a sense of pride and fulfillment.
“No matter how much hard work we put into these vehicles, seeing the light in their eyes when they fully see their cars being uncovered — that’s the moment that we work for,” said Smith, 21.
The 2014 Topeka High School graduate was one of a handful of other Washburn Institute of Technology students and instructors working Friday on a 2003 Ford Windstar minivan and 2011 Hyundai Sonata as part of the technical school’s “Recycled Rides” marathon community service project.
