GM ASEP LogoACDelco reminds students pursuing careers in automotive service to submit their applications for the “100 Years, 100 Futures” scholarship program no later than Sunday, July 31.

Launched to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the ACDelco brand, the program is designed to help defray the costs of college for students enrolled in the GM ASEP program, which combines classroom and real-world, paid internships at sponsoring GM dealerships and independent ACDelco Professional Service Center program shops. The program will award $1,000 scholarships to 100 GM ASEP students.

“We believe it’s important to invest in the next generation of automotive technicians – the young men and women who will lead our industry in the near future,” said Robert Sanford, general director, ACDelco. “These are great jobs that pay well, and it’s estimated there will be a need for 35,000 technicians by 2020.”

The GM ASEP program operates through selected public colleges and universities across the country. Graduates alternate time in the classroom with hands-on automotive service experience, and receive an associate’s degree in applied science or equivalent.

The program provides up to 90 percent of the training required to become a GM-certified technician. Students benefit by getting industry-leading training, and sponsoring shops get access to a pool of talented young technicians at a time when there is a shortage of techs.

ACDelco encourages interested students to visit iagmasep.org/scholarship to learn more or apply.
