C.R. Laurence – a supplier of automotive glass replacement hardware and tools – has partnered with Auto Glass University (AGU) to provide a week-long educational school for industry members that focuses on auto glass installation, replacement and repair. Classes will take place April 4-8 at the SEMA Garage in Los Angeles, just a few miles from C.R. Laurence’s ISO 9001:2008-certified manufacturing facilities.

AGU will teach students the fundamentals of working in the automotive glass industry. Classes not only focus on technical training, but also cover best practices, customer service, safety and regulatory compliance. The training is ideal for beginners, current auto glass technicians seeking certification and experienced installers who wish to stay current.

As host of the AGU, C.R. Laurence will provide products, supplies and a team of product experts that will give insight into the industry. The main goal is to develop qualified and driven auto glass technicians that will help push the industry forward.

“Partnering with AGU presents an excellent opportunity to share our combined knowledge and experience with aspiring entrepreneurs so they can effectively navigate the auto glass industry,” said Fred Altamirano, vice president of automotive sales at C.R. Laurence. “Hosting the AGU workshop speaks to our commitment toward maintaining a leadership position in the automotive glass replacement market, but also supporting the growth of the industry as a whole.”

AGU curriculum teaches students the requirements set forth by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, the ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS Standard for aftermarket replacements and the technician certification programs recognized by the insurance industry. Once students receive their diploma, they will know the necessary components of a safe and successful installation, and will be given the resources needed to overcome difficulties on the field.

“Auto Glass University is proud to have C.R. Laurence host our southwest regional school in April,” said Bob Beranek, president of Automotive Glass Consultants and founder of AGU. “For over 40 years, C.R. Laurence has been an industry leader in providing glazing tools, supplies, machinery and quality aftermarket products. Their name is well known, and having them host one of our workshops is a definite win for AGU and for our students.”
