CHICAGO Committed to educating future generations about the automotive industry, Championship Auto Shows, Inc. hosts annual Student Career Days at many of their shows throughout the country, including the 47th Annual CARQUEST World of Wheels, presented by South Oak Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, January 23-25, 2009.
The CARQUEST World of Wheels Student Career Day is held at 9 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 at McCormick Place Lakeside. Many high school, college and technical school students and instructors from around the Chicago area participate in this exciting opportunity to see some of the country’s most impressive, award-winning hot rods, and meet with automotive industry leaders.
"We’re in our third year of hosting Student Career Day at the CARQUEST World of Wheels," said Co- Manager Bob Ashton. "We’ve had huge success in the past, and have received an outpouring of interest from instructors around the Chicago area to participate."
As a part of Student Career Day, students get the chance to hear about the industry first-hand by guest speakers like Troy Trepanier of Rad Rides by Troy, IHRA Pro-Mod driver Harold Martin and other professionals from the automotive aftermarket.
Students also get the chance to visit the CARQUEST World of Wheels show floor to see the vehicles and visit sponsors and exhibitors before the event opens to the public. They have the opportunity to register for prizes like welders from Student Career Day sponsor, Miller Welding, participate in interactive exhibits and meet with human resource representatives from automotive related companies looking to hire interested young men and women.
The CARQUEST World of Wheels, presented by South Oak Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep is produced by Championship Auto Shows of Auburn Hills, Mich. Part of the GM Performance Parts Show Car Series and the International Show Car Association custom car competition, the show has taken place annually in Chicago since 1961.
The 47th Annual show runs January 23-25, 2009 at McCormick Place – Lakeside, (2301 S. Lakeshore Dr.; Chicago, Ill.). The event hours are Friday, 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For additional show information visit www.worldofwheels.com.
