Students from Alhambra High School in Martinez, CA, helped restore a 1972 Ford Maverick that is making its debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
From Hayley Munguia’s article on the Pasadena Star-News website:
The SEMA Garage was buzzing Friday afternoon with a swarm of men clad in black button-ups, all circling and tuning up their prized blossom: an (almost) fully restored 1972 Ford Maverick.
The car, which embarked on a 250-mile journey northeast to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas on Saturday, was the product of six months of work from Sung Kang, best known for his role as Han in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, along with Alhambra High School junior Tony Chen, senior Christian Quiroz and alum Alexis Hernandez, who graduated in May.
“This (project) has been pretty fun,” Hernandez said. “There have been a lot of challenges that really help you learn, like the ones we’re dealing with right now,” he said, referring to the last-minute, all-hands-on-deck scramble to prepare for the SEMA — short for Specialty Equipment Marketing Association — trade show.
