Henry Ford College Student Wins Garage Gurus Scholarship

Robert Morantes, a student in the Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) program at Henry Ford College, was one of 12 students in the entire nation and the only one at the college to win a $2,500 “Garage Guru” scholarship from the Federal-Mogul Corp. in Southfield.

“I decided to go back to school in the last year to better my life and that of my family,” said Morantes, who lives with his wife Julie and their two children, ages 3 and 20 months, in South Lyon.

“Financially, tuition has set us back greatly, and my family has made huge sacrifices to allow me to go to school.”
