From the Cypress Creek Mirror website:

At 55 years old, Benny Williams found himself laid off after working for 10 years at Halliburton but instead of giving up, he decided to go back to school.

Williams was making close to $94,000 a year before he was laid off in June of 2015 due to the downturn in the oil industry. He decided to pursue his passion and attend Universal Technical Institute (UTI). He previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years and has 18 years of experience in the automotive industry.

“I have years of experience but I was not certified, I went back to school to get my certification,” he said.

Realizing the importance of being certified, Williams enrolled at UTI Houston’s campus in September of 2015. He will graduate in June of this year and adds how UTI is a great school and has some of the best teachers. As a student, said Williams, the best part is seeing how everything works.
