Automotive students at Lowell High School in Lowell, Massachusetts, have their sights set on a big win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with their electric vehicle project.
From Melanie Csepiga’s article in The Times:
The mood is electric around Lowell High School, where students and teachers are driving an electric vehicle project that will take them to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this May.
It’s all part of the evGrandPrix, a Purdue University-sponsored electric vehicle race expanded to include high schoolers in 2013 after offering it at the college level since 2010.
The high school version utilizes less complex drive trains and battery systems than the collegiate competition, but other than those changes, LHS students are in the driver’s seat with the program’s guidelines in hand.
