From Ryan Blessing’s article on The Bulletin website:

When he was a little boy, Devin Bialek, of Mystic, worked with his grandfather on the man’s 1957 Ford Thunderbird.

“We did a complete engine swap together,” Bialek, now 18 and a senior at Norwich Technical High School, said.

It’s a car that’s still around today, Bialek said. More importantly, the skills the child learned helped the now-teenager and his classmate Johnathan O’Neill take home the top prize on March 30 at the National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City.

“It was unbelievable,” O’Neill, 17, of Waterford, said. “We hoped it would happen, but never expected it.”
