Oliver Taylor, an automotive technology student at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, CA, is the owner of this 1991 Mustang 5.0L with a supercharger and full road-race suspension. These performance upgrades come in handy as Taylor likes to spend his free time competing in autocross events in picturesque northern California, as well as driving in the annual Hoopa Hillclimb event in Bald Hill.
Taylor said he enjoys being a part of his local autocross club — the Redwood Sports Car Club (RSCC) — where he also serves as a member of its board of directors.
The club was founded in 1956 and, since then, has run events for car enthusiasts who enjoy the challenge of testing their driving skills in an amicably competitive, yet safe environment.
Taylor participates in the RSCC local autocrosses throughout the year, saying that autocrosses
provides some of the purest and safest form of competitive driving.
RSCC runs its events on wide, open courses — usually at Orvil Wilson Park, in Fairhaven, CA. Courses are designed and are setup differently for every autocross using chalk and cone markers. Only one car is on the course at a time, and drivers are timed as they negotiate the course to the best of their cars’ and their own abilities.
Taylor, who was the RSCC 2006 Street Modified Champion and 2007 E-Stock Champion, has made a number of modifications to his Mustang, including:
