The Hays, KS, Resident Wins the NAPA Trick Truck Award at the 15th Summer Get-Together

ATLANTA – NAPA AUTO PARTS, the Official Auto Parts Store of the Goodguys Rod Custom Association, awarded Rob Boardman of Hays, KS, a NAPA Trick Truck award at the 15th Summer Get-Together this weekend in Alameda, CA, for his 1954 Ford F100.

Boardman’s Ford has quite a storied history. He has owned the truck for more than 35 years and it sat for 15 years at a relative’s house. After saving money and raising four children, Boardman was finally able to return to rebuilding the vehicle.

The "midnight safire" blue F100 is equipped with a 2001 4.6 Cobra engine that made of aluminum and built in England.

This Ford is topped off with its original 15-inch wheels and gets about 18 mpg, a good thing considering the 450 horse power capabilities. The truck has been in the semifinal round for the 2006 Truck of the Year competition at an auto show in Kansas.

Boardman earned a $100 NAPA gift certificate for tools from the on-site NAPA Tool Equipment tent. In addition to the $100 NAPA gift certificate, he also received a NAPA hat, t-shirt and grease towel.

NAPA is presenting Trick Truck awards at all 24 Goodguys events with a projected annual attendance of 1.7 million.
