World’s Biggest Old Car Show Set For Hershey, PA

The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) and the Hershey Region AACA are ready to welcome collector-car enthusiasts from all over the world to Hershey, Pa., for the club's Eastern Division Fall Meet. This event is the world's largest antique car show. It takes place from Oct. 7-10th.

The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) and the Hershey Region AACA are ready to welcome collector-car enthusiasts from all over the world to Hershey, Pa., for the club’s Eastern Division Fall Meet. This event is the world’s largest antique car show. It takes place from Oct. 7-10th.

Over 700 volunteers from the Hershey Region AACA work all year long on the show. Admission to the public is free. The event features a flea market with 9,000 vendor spaces, 1,300 show cars on display and a Car Corral with 1,000 antique cars for sale. The show attracts over 250,000 visitors each year. The show is open dawn to dusk, Wednesday through Saturday. All events are held on the grounds surrounding Hersheypark and the Giant Center.

This year’s show theme is “The Era of Big Block High Performance Cars” and will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Shelby. For more information and a complete schedule, visit the Hershey Region AACA website at www.hersheyaaca.org.

Highlights of Hershey Meet Week 2015

AACA Library Yard Sale: (October 6, 4-7 p.m., 501 W. Governor Rd., Hershey). For the second year in a row, the AACA Library and Research Center will be holding its literature and collectibles sale. They will be selling duplicate items from their extensive collection, including sales literature, brochures, shop manuals, owner’s manuals, books, etc. Check out a fun video created by the Library staff to advertise the event.

Flea Market (October 7-10, 7 a.m. – dusk, 550 Hersheypark Drive, Hershey). Thousands of vendors take over almost every inch of ground surrounding Hersheypark and the Giant Center. Car parts, tires, gas pumps, collectibles, etc.

Torqtoberfest presented by RM Sotheby’s (October 7-9, 4-9 p.m., 161 Museum Dr., Hershey) A new behind-the-scenes bash in a super-secret storage building for the ultimate Meet Week party! Pricing includes themed foods (different theme each night) craft beers, wine, sodas, entertainment, silent auction, access to the AACA Museum and more! RM Sotheby’s Collector Car Auction (October 8-9, Hershey Lodge, 325 University Dr.) A feature attraction of the AACA Eastern Division Fall Meet, RM Sotheby’s 9th annual Hershey sale will be held at Hershey Lodge and present an outstanding roster of 150 automobiles and select memorabilia. The 2015 auction is offering two private collections: the long hidden-away Richard Roy Estate Collection, and a selection of vehicles from the esteemed Harold Coker Collection. Vintage Race Car Conditioning Run & Hughes High-Wheeler Event (October 9, 11 a.m., Hershey Stadium, 100 West Hersheypark Drive, Hershey) The Race Car Conditioning Run is part of the ritual that is Hershey Meet Week. This year, there are 26 race cars registered for this unique event including oval track, sports cars, Indy cars and motorcycles. There is a 75 year history of race cars driving around the Hershey Stadium, starting with the midget car races during the Great Depression.

AACA Hershey Car Show (October 10, 7 a.m., field on N. Hockersville Rd. behind PA American Water, Hershey) Almost 1,300 collector cars. At 12 p.m. in front of the Giant Center, Hershey Region AACA will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Shelby. Youth are invited to participate with Juniors at Hershey events, hands on wiring of automotive lighting, assembly of a mini bike and “Year of the Super Snake,” a historic depiction on how Carroll Shelby built the Cobra for racing. Free give-a-ways and treats for the kids.
