Nissan Has Created A GT-R Drone

Nissan has unveiled the GT-R Drone – one of the fastest accelerating FPV (First Person View) racing drones in the world.

Ride Of The Week: Mr. Chevy’s 1955 Bel Air and Ramp Truck

The V8 Speed and Resto Shop of Red Bud, Ill., recently restored an eye-catching truck and car for collector Larry Frees. The attention-getting 1955 Chevrolet ramp truck carries a color-matched 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air “gasser” style racing car.

Turbo Trouble: How Turbochargers Work

Turbochargers are great for adding power to any gas or diesel-powered engine, but are especially useful in small displacement engines. The boost to airflow that a turbocharger provides increases the breathing efficiency of the engine for more horsepower and torque.

Diesel Oil & Filters

One of the basic differences between oils formulated for diesel engines and those formulated for gasoline engines is more detergent and dispersant in the additive package. Diesel engines (even clean diesels) still produce a lot of soot that ends up in the crankcase. If the oil can’t keep the soot in suspension, it can end up as sludge in the crankcase and elsewhere in the engine.

Keep The Valvetrain On Track

Valvetrain components such as lifters, pushrods, rockers and valve springs are often replaced when rebuilding stock engines. Worn rocker arms and lifters should not be reused to prevent failures down the road. If you’re installing a new flat tappet cam, new lifters are a must. Any pushrods that are not straight must also be replaced, along with high-mileage valve springs that have weakened with age.

Petersen Automotive Museum Announces Re-Opening Schedule

he museum of the future will arrive in early December, when the Petersen re-opens its doors. Fueling Choices: Factors For Carburetion Or A Bolt-On TBI Fuel Injection System

If you’re building a performance engine, should you fuel it with a carburetor or some type of electronic fuel injection (EFI) system? If the application is a late-model vehicle that came factory-equipped with EFI, that decision has already been made for you.

Understanding The Science Of Connecting Rods

They say an engine is only as reliable as its weakest link. The connecting rods that join the pistons with the crank can be a strong link or a weak link depending on the rods that are used. Most late model stock engines use powder metal rods. They are inexpensive to manufacture, require minimal machining to finish and are adequate for stock power levels and normal driving.

The Inner Workings of Variable Valve Timing Technology

Variable valve timing (VVT) is a way to advance/retard valve timing, and change duration, overlap and even lift in some applications while the engine is running. VVT is computer-controlled and typically uses oil pressure to change the position of a phaser mechanism on the end of the camshaft to advance or retard cam timing. VVT
