Universal Technical Institute To Commemorate 5 Decades Of Success

The provider of education opened its first campus in Phoenix approximately 50 years ago with just two classrooms and 11 students. Today, UTI has 12 campus locations across the United States, and partners with manufacturers of more than 30 of the world’s leading transportation brands, including BMW, Cummins, Ford, Freightliner, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo.

Chrysler Transmission: The Case Of The Shiftless 48RE

The truck originally came into the shop with a broken band, which is a common and very cut-and-dried failure on a high-mileage 48RE transmission. The band and other friction lining was replaced and the valve body was cleaned. And, since the 3500 SLT had 240,000 miles on the odometer, the failure-prone electronic governor was replaced as well. Unfortunately, after the rebuilt transmission was installed and road-tested, the 48RE failed to shift out of first gear.

Hot Engines For Hot Wheels – The Reality Of Building Engines For TV

Richard Rawlings, owner of the Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas and host of “Fast N’ Loud,” was given the opportunity to build a replica 1968 Corvette to celebrate the Hot Wheels Sweet 16, the first series of toy cars produced by Mattel in 1968. He immediately had visions of a blown big block engine to power the classic, and he called on WCH Racing Engines in Midlothian, TX, to build it.

Diesel Oil & Filters

One of the basic differences between oils formulated for diesel engines and those formulated for gasoline engines is more detergent and dispersant in the additive package. Diesel engines (even clean diesels) still produce a lot of soot that ends up in the crankcase. If the oil can’t keep the soot in suspension, it can end up as sludge in the crankcase and elsewhere in the engine.

1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible

While the famous Monterey Car Week is typically associated with multimillion-dollar purebred European sports cars and antique luxury automobiles, Mecum Auctions recently brought a game changer this year in the form of multimillion-dollar muscle – the king of American muscle cars, a rare 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible. The Executive Demonstrator of its designer, John Herlitz, the Hemi Cuda Convertible was one of the highlights at Mecum’s annual Daytime Auction on August 13-15.

Diesel Performance Head Gaskets

Head gaskets have a tough job sealing combustion pressures in diesel engines because of their high compression ratios and boost pressures. Diesel engines are typically low revving, high torque motors that are designed to last several hundred thousand miles.

Rebuilding Diesel Tractor/Ag Engines

Rebuilding and remanufacturing tractors engines and ag equipment is still very prevalent.

Universal Technical Institute Launches New Diesel & Industrial Training Program

The 45-week Diesel & Industrial Technology curriculum will prepare students to work on everything from diesel engines (buses, trucks, trains, etc.) to oil rigs and even farm equipment.

The Growing Popularity of Diesel Truck Motorsports

By Ron Knoch, president, DIESEL Motorsports DIESEL Motorsports began 13 years ago in Muncie, IN, where the first “diesel only” event was put together by a local TDR Club and two promoters. Organizers held the event because the drag strips at that time would not let diesel trucks run on their tracks. In fact, they
