This past weekend, Rhys Millen took on the 100th anniversary of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in Colorado Springs, Colorado, leading to yet another broken record for the precision driver.

Rhys, 43, once again piloted the Drive eO PP03 1,368-horsepower electric racer to the top, setting an Electric Modified division record of 8:57.118 and taking home a second place finish overall. This is the same vehicle he used in 2015 to set a world record of 9:07.222 for electric cars to win the race overall.

In addition, Rhys’ father, Rod Millen, brought back his 1,000-horsepower Pennzoil Toyota Celica for the race which he piloted as this year’s pace car. This is the same Celica All-Trac that captured three overall wins at Pikes Peak (1994, 1997, and 1998), and with Millen at the wheel, set the course record of 10:04.050 in 1994, a record that stood for 17 years.

Pennzoil sponsored both Millens as they pushed performance to the next level and took on the grueling driving conditions of the ‘Race to the Clouds.’
