Eight female students are enrolled in the automotive technician program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, WI.
From an article on The Dunn County News website:
Elysia Lunderville felt well prepared when she started classes in the Automotive Technician program at Chippewa Valley Technical College in August.
“I have always been into cars and working on them,” said Lunderville, a 2016 Boyceville High School graduate. “I like American muscle and classic cars.”
Lunderville was also mentally prepared to be totally surrounded by male classmates in both the classroom and the garage. She thought she might be the only female student. That’s what most of the other seven female students currently enrolled thought, too.
Instructor Brian Gerrits said that is by far the most female enrollment he’s seen in his 12 years of teaching. Often there are no females enrolled, or just one or two. This year, 10 enrolled in two sections, though two have since left (some male students have dropped, too).
