My Father's Shop To Award Tools To Schools

My Father’s Shop To Award Tools To Schools

Nominations will open October 16 for a week. Trade schools, high schools and colleges in Continental US are eligible.

Jeff Buckley, owner of My Father’s Shop in Midlothian, TX, has partnered with Milton Industries, as well as Associated Equipment, Redline Detection and TOPDON USA for the 2023 Fall Tools For Schools giveaway.

From October 16 through October 22, high schools, technical centers and colleges in the Continental United States can be nominated to receive one of five automotive testing kits, valued up to $5,600. Nominations can be submitted HERE.

“The idea behind the contest is to bring local attention to the automotive programs at the schools,” says Buckley. “The program must get votes for the school, from the community and in the area. The schools with the most votes ‘win’ much needed tools and equipment. The other schools get much needed attention. The tool companies get more PR than normal. My thought is the local auto repair shops will notice their local program and hop on board to help them, in turn, finding the next crop of technicians.”

Following the nomination period, open voting for the school of choice will be held at the same address from October 23-29. The winners will be announced live from the SEMA Show on Wednesday, November 1 at 4 pm. PST through Jeff Buckley’s Facebook live feed.

“The schools don’t always have the resources or budgets to purchase the latest tools to teach the students the latest technology,” explains Buckley. “If a student learns on the latest tools and equipment and they go to a shop that doesn’t have this particular tool – don’t you think they will say something? This will help raise the skill level of the shop and the technicians at the same time!”

My Father’s Shop is a family-owned and operated business located just south of the Dallas Ft. Worth area in Midlothian, TX. Buckley and his wife, Candace, have owned the business for over 40 years. Buckley is an ASE Certified Service Advisor, Master Tech, and AMI Master – AMAM & AMEV. The Buckleys are active on social media and participate in many educational discussions about new and upcoming automotive technology.
