Northview Student Wins Top Award At Ivy Tech’s Automotive Skills Contest

More than 150 students participated in Ivy Tech’s Automotive Skills Contest.

Austin Fields, a senior from Northview High School, won first place recently in Ivy Tech Community College Wabash Valley’s Automotive Skills Contest.

More than 150 students attended the annual event, and 14 select juniors and seniors from the region competed in the contest.

The competition consisted of a written test and a rotation through six stations, Engine Measurement, Electrical, Steering & Suspension, Parts ID, Information Worksheet, and Engine Performance in the Automotive Lab to demonstrate their knowledge of automotive technology. Other students attending toured the facility, visited with Ivy Tech faculty and staff, and visited with representatives from automotive companies about educational and job opportunities in the automotive field.
