The Diesel Technology program at Northeastern in Sterling, CO, has received re-accreditation by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF).
To achieve this coveted recognition, the school’s Diesel Technology Training program underwent rigorous evaluation by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). Nationally accepted standards of excellence in areas such as instruction, facilities and equipment were used.
“This is great news for diesel tech-minded young people and their parents,” said Donald Seyfer, former NATEF Chair. “Because this program increases cooperation between local education and industry leaders, it gives added assurance that Northeastern graduates will be employable entry-level technicians. As a result of the quality education provided by NJC, the motoring public will benefit since better repair technicians will join the work force.” Upon completion of the evaluation, NJC became
re-accredited by NATEF. NATEF is a non-profit, independent organization that evaluates and accredits entry-level technician training programs against standards developed by the automotive/diesel industry.
Jimmy Atencio, Diesel Technology Instructor, added, “During the past few months, we have worked closely with NATEF to make certain that our program would meet strict industry standards, and now we are delighted once again to join the ranks of the NATEF accredited training programs. Students will be assured of a quality education, and shop owners will be assured of getting quality job applicants. We are proud of this coveted recognition and our ability to produce competent technicians and employable students.” The NJC Diesel Technology program is a training program that focuses on the service, repair, and maintenance of medium/heavy duty trucks as well as agricultural and industrial equipment. All courses follow ASE, NATEF standards and students work on live-units with real-world problems to diagnose and repair to gain the hands-on experience they need to become successful technicians. Students who graduate from this program will receive either a Northeastern Junior College Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science degree.
