schoolFrom Portland Tribune:

While it might be true that many high school students care more about the color of their car than how its engine works, it’s not the case for everyone, as a select few of the district’s high schoolers are getting the chance to participate in something new this year.

Sept. 10, a collection of students from Wilsonville, West Linn and Arts and Technology high schools started an intensive automotive technology course in conjunction with World of Speed Museum in Wilsonville and Clackamas Community College.

The class — which lasts until early December when the second of three terms will begin — gives students hands-on experience with the latest in automotive technology while providing dual high school and college credits. Students spend two full hours everyday after school to satisfy the class requirements.
