WEST BURLINGTON, IA – Nasty dark clouds rolled across the horizon as the 13th annual Southeastern Community College Car Show and Swap Meet got under way Saturday morning, but the classic car owners weren’t worried.

Their prized metal beasts were resting comfortably under the ceiling of theAgriStock Arena, where nary a drop of rain threatened to enter.

"We go on, rain or shine," said Mount Pleasant resident Mark Nelson, president of the SCC Auto Tech Club.

The car show, which is organized by the SCC Auto Tech club every year, is an annual fundraiser that helps pay travel expenses for the club’s yearly trip to the Chicago Auto Show. Nelson just graduated from the two-year program Thursday night and said the lessons he learned at SCC were invaluable.

"This shows the public what we’re capable of," he said.
