Universal Technical Institute Named to 2015 STEM Jobs Approved Colleges List

UTI logoUniversal Technical Institute (UTI) has been designated a 2015 STEM Jobs Approved College by Victory Media, a veteran-owned business connecting individuals in transition with education, business and career opportunities. The designation includes UTI, as well as its Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, Marine Mechanics Institute and NASCAR Technical Institute programs.

The 2015 STEM Jobs Approved Colleges inaugural list rated universities, colleges, community colleges and trade schools on their success in preparing students for STEM occupations, where trained professionals are increasingly in demand. Victory Media created the list to help parents, students and guidance counselors evaluate how well education is translating into real-world jobs, and how responsive institutions are to meeting the demand for STEM-based education.

“Science, technology, engineering and math skills are critical in today’s high-tech transportation industry, where technicians are required to master the complex digital systems that make modern vehicles work,” said Jerry Ellner, national director of high school development, UTI. “UTI’s curriculum is rooted in STEM, and presented in practical ways that work for hands-on learners. Our graduates are in demand by leading manufacturers and prepared to find good-paying, stable jobs and build long-term, rewarding careers in the transportation industry, where the need for highly trained technicians continues to grow.”

UTI was among more than 1,600 schools surveyed as part of the STEM Jobs screening process. Schools were scored on publicly available data and responses to proprietary questions around three key indicators of success: STEM job alignment, STEM job placement and diversity in a school’s STEM programs.
