High voltage is not something to take lightly; understanding how to properly work with the high voltage is a MUST as a first responder. Hybrid vehicles are not going away, more and more will be on the road in the future, and that means more and more chances for accidents to happen. AVI wants you to learn about hybrid vehicle safety and how to deal with one at the scene of an accident from the best there is in the business, Instructor Craig Van Batenburg. Craig, nationally known for his expertise in the field of hybrids, will show you what to look for, how to tell which system is which, what models to look for and how to avoid the hazards of dealing with a hybrid car in an accident situation.

He will break down the different manufacturers, models and types of systems so that you, the first responder, will understand just how to cope with the high voltage systems in today’s hybrid vehicles. You’ll not only know what to do, but also how to properly deactivate the high voltage systems in each and every model, safely and quickly. He will also go over how to distinguish the higher voltage and more dangerous wiring and components from the non-lethal components.

AVI wants to help educate you and to keep you safe while you’re doing your job saving the lives of the accident victims. As a first responder, Good Samaritan, or technician, your understanding on how to properly handle the lethal voltages present in these hybrids will ensure your safety as well as the occupants you are trying to help. You could be saving someone’s life tomorrow with the information you’ll learn today.
