BP Products North America Inc. recently announced the launch of FuelCertification.com, the industry’s most comprehensive online fuels training. The site offers current and future auto technicians and passionate auto enthusiasts the chance to learn more about the properties and performance benefits of Gasoline, Diesel and Biofuels, while also providing insight into Fuel Production/Refining. This training will help auto technicians better understand fuel-related problems and help answer the questions their customers are asking about different types of fuels.
The online fuels training is the most recent offering from the fuel experts at BP Global Fuels Technology (GFT), which is responsible for Fuels Product Research and Development, Marketing Product Support, Technical Service, Quality Assurance and Monitoring Fuels Regulations, ensuring product quality at BP retail locations by testing tens of thousands of samples to make sure that BP fuels meet or exceed federal, state and municipal requirements.
Since 2005, GFT has provided a similar live training to hundreds of automotive technicians at its Naperville, Ill. research facility. Due to high demand for the training, GFT launched the online version of the course to provide the same quality fuels training to auto technicians nationwide.
“BP has heard from hundreds of automotive technicians who feel there are very few quality, comprehensive fuels training options currently available in their area,” said James Simnick PhD, GFT technical advisor and member of the U.S. Department of Energy Freedom Car Technical Team. “So we expanded our local fuels training to reach auto technicians across the country who want the latest information about fuels and their impact on vehicle performance.”
The free training is currently available at FuelCertification.com. The entire course will take approximately three hours to complete, but the save-as-you-go feature allows participants to finish training at their own pace and as their schedule allows. Interested participants will need to register before advancing to the four training modules.
Each module is narrated, which allows participants to follow along by both reading and listening to the training content. A brief quiz immediately follows each module with a comprehensive exam at the conclusion of the training. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion in the mail along with the title ‘BP Fuel Certified.’ Registrants will also receive email training updates as changes to fuel technology information occur.
