Automotive Students Invited to Enter in Dupli-Color’s Restoration Challenge — GENERATION NEXT

Auto classes will compete to win $5,000 shopping sprees, $10,000 scholarships — Deadline is June 24!

Cleveland Dupli-Color announces its Restoration Challenge: Generation Next, a unique contest for automotive vocational school and high school students to compete for the chance to win thousands of dollars in retailer merchandise and scholarships.

Through June 24, 2011, teams may submit proposals for fall auto projects using at least ten different Dupli-Color products. Three teams will then be chosen to participate in the Restoration Challenge based on their creativity, detail, feasibility and product use.

Each team selected will receive enough Dupli-Color products to complete the projects, as well as $5,000 toward supplies from one of three retail sponsors: Advance Auto Parts, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Pep Boys.

In September, the competing teams will begin to document the projects and post updates on Facebook, where fans can vote each week for their favorite project.

In November 2011, the team with the most votes will be named the Grand Prize winner. Each member of the winning team will receive a $10,000 scholarship to Ohio Technical College, along with a celebratory party hosted by DJ Funkmaster Flex, host of MTV’s Funk Flex Full Throttle. Each member of the second place team will receive $7,500 to Ohio Technical College, and third place winners will receive $5,000 scholarships.

Dupli•Color is hosting the contest following the success of last year’s Restoration Challenge, which encouraged auto enthusiasts to enter and vote for their DIY projects on Facebook. This year, the company hopes to engage students and allow them explore their creativity.

“This was an opportunity for Dupli-Color to reach out to the young people who are interested in automotive restoration, and to help familiarize them with our product offerings,” says Fred Hunt, Director of Product Development, Dupli-Color. “We wanted to give students the opportunity to learn and demonstrate their skills. And all winners will receive scholarships, so they have the option to take their educations even further. It’s a great benefit to everyone involved.”

To enter a class for Restoration Challenge: Generation Next, a teacher or administrator must submit a proposal on Dupli-Color’s Facebook page or www.restogennext.com. Only one entry per school will be considered valid. For a full listing of entry requirements, rules and regulations, visit www.facebook.com/Duplicolor.

New findings show that while vehicles may be safer, more capable of avoiding crashes and more environmentally friendly, advanced technology is contributing to costlier repairs, higher claims costs and longer cycle times. Additional factors, such as scheduling backlogs, have contributed to the 60% increase in the amount of time it takes for vehicles to enter repair shops after estimate completion, compared to pre-pandemic times.
