From the Sioux City Journal website:

The action movie “2 Fast 2 Furious” sparked Mashia Dinkel’s interest in cars.

The different parts underneath the hood fascinate the North High School junior, who can’t stop talking about cars much to the chagrin of her friends who think auto body is boring.

“They think I’m weird,” said Dinkel, wearing a pair of clear safety glasses and standing beside a white car with its hood propped open. The car was parked inside the Sioux City Community School District’s Harry Hopkins Center.

It was just after 8 a.m. on a Wednesday morning, and Dinkel was about to head into a nearby classroom where she would learn how to troubleshoot brake problems.

“Every time I talk about cars around them they’re like, ‘Just be quiet already. I don’t care,'” she said of her friends.

Dinkel is one of three females in a classroom of roughly 20 students. Recently, automotive technology instructor Scott Zenor said more young women are showing an interest in his class.
