GAAS Scholarships Now Has Facebook Page

Applications are now being accepted online for the 2010 Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) scholarship, awarded to students planning automotive aftermarket careers.

The Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium Scholarship (GAASS) now has a group page on Facebook, open to anyone interested in learning more about the annual scholarship program.

The site can be located either by searching for “GAAS Scholarships” or at this link.

“Facebook is an extremely popular online networking site, especially for the scholarship’s target audience of students and people considering automotive industry careers,” said Pete Kornafel, chairman of the GAAS scholarship committee. “Our new Facebook page will be an invaluable tool in getting the word out about our annual scholarship awards.”

Kornafel noted that GAAS Scholarship alumni now have their own section at the GAAS Scholarship Web site, www.automotivescholarships.com/alumni.cfm. “Past scholarship recipients can log in using the e-mail address and password they used when they applied for the scholarship,” he explained.

“They have the option of making their profile visible to others, and they can update their profile with contact information, an “about me” section, links to Facebook and other pages, as well as post a resume and photo.”

Any scholarship alumni who experiences difficulty logging in should contact Pete Kornafel, [email protected].

The GAAS Scholarship alumni section of the site also has a “Seeking employment” box, Kornafel noted. “Aftermarket industry employers can search the database of GAAS Scholarship alumni for outstanding candidates,” he said.
