Jamie Decato, who worked as a General Motors Master Technician for a number of years, became the full-time lead instructor for LRCC's GM-ASEP program in 2001.

Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) Professor, Jamie Decato (Belmont), has been elected to the International Association of General Motors Automotive Service Education Program’s (IAGMASEP) board of directors.

IAGMASEP is the governing body for GM-ASEP schools across the U.S. and Canada, as well as GM-ASEP in China and Ecuador.

The IAGMASEP Board is made up of representatives from all these regions where General Motors Company has formed strong technical education partnerships to ensure their customers get the very best service on their GM vehicles.
Decato will participate in teleconferences as well as face-to-face meetings in Detroit to advise and shepherd the

international organization with policies and practices that support the mission and long-range goals of IAGMASEP.
Professor Decato graduated from the GM Automotive Service Education Program at LRCC in 1996 where he placed second at the SkillsUSA Contest in Kansas City, MO.

After working as a General Motors Master Technician for a number of years, he started teaching at LRCC as a part-time instructor and became the full-time Lead Instructor for the GM-ASEP program in 2001.

“As one of eight World Class GM Technicians in NH, Jamie has continued to earn a stellar reputation as a technician, and a leader in automotive education nationally,” said LRCC GM-ASEP Department Chair, Michael Parker.

“He has been awarded the GM Northeast Region Teacher of Merit Award (2006), the Commissioner’s Award of Teaching Excellence (2004-2005), and Instructor of the Year, (2004-2005). SkillsUSA is dedicated to fostering a positive work ethic, community service, and leadership in students; Professor Decato exemplifies the realization of these goals.”
